Leading Logistics Company Europa Worldwide

For the first time, Europa Worldwide Group welcomed 32 Logistics and Supply Chain Management students from the University of Kent Business school to its Dartford headquarters.

The students, led by their Senior Lecturer Dr Chefi Triki, who heads the Logistics and Supply Chain Management course at the university, were given an opportunity to observe the practical application of logistics operations and deepen their understanding of the supply chain industry.

One of the UK’s largest independent logistics providers Europa’s Dartford HQ is home to a team of 350+ and includes a dedicated 3PL facility and an advanced 1Hub facility for road freight. Europa’s road freight services include an unparalleled groupage offer powered by the state-of-the-art 1Hub, where goods are meticulously managed, tracked, and securely handled and transported into and out of Europe.

Designed to give students a practical insight into the logistics and supply chain sector, the visit was curated to provide the students with an up-close look at the day-to-day workings of a leading logistics provider, complementing their academic studies. Key focus areas included warehouse management, transportation scheduling, and truck loading operations—critical components of modern logistics that drive efficiency and innovation.

Dr Chefi Triki explained the significance of the visit:

“This week's visit to Europa Worldwide Group was incredibly rewarding for our students. They were able to witness firsthand the complexities and intricacies of real-world logistics operations.

“Our students gained a deeper understanding of how the theories and methodologies they study in the classroom are applied in a practical setting. This exposure will significantly enhance their future studies and career prospects, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience that will set them apart in a competitive job market.”

During their tour of the Albion Road site, the students had the chance to learn about the various challenges faced by logistics companies, such as maintaining inventory control, ensuring timely deliveries, and managing the complex scheduling of shipments across international borders.

Europa’s senior leadership team was instrumental in delivering an insightful and engaging tour. Rob Bartlett, Head of European Operations; Rob Yates, Warehouse Manager; and Malcolm Castle, General Manager, guided the students through each stage of the company’s logistics operations. Drawing on their extensive expertise, they provided in-depth explanations of their respective roles and responsibilities, giving the students a comprehensive understanding of how various elements of the supply chain work together seamlessly.

Tom Jenkins, Central Services Director at Europa Worldwide Group, commented on the importance of such educational visits:

“We were delighted to host the University of Kent students here at our Dartford site. At Europa, we believe in the power of education and collaboration, and we’re always keen to support the next generation of supply chain professionals.”

This visit is part of Europa’s ongoing commitment to bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practice. By connecting students with experienced professionals, Europa provides invaluable opportunities for them to gain hands-on insights into the logistics sector. The company’s dedication to fostering the next generation of supply chain experts is reflected in its continuous efforts to offer students exposure to real-world scenarios.

This commitment is further demonstrated through initiatives like Generation Logistics, an industry-led campaign aimed at raising awareness about career opportunities and addressing the skills gap in the logistics sector.

The company’s focus on education, innovation, and sustainability was evident throughout the visit, leaving the students with a deeper appreciation for the logistics industry and the vital role it plays in the global economy. With this valuable experience under their belts, the students left the Dartford site with newfound insights that will serve them well in their future careers.
