Social Enterprise Kent Announces Young Cooks Competition

Igniting Culinary Passion in Young People

 

Social Enterprise Kent (SEK) are delighted to announce the launch of the Young Cooks Competition, designed to ignite the passion for cooking in young people. This exciting initiative not only enhances their culinary skills but also increases their knowledge of food and nutrition, cost control, and budgeting—essential life skills that empower them to feed a family.

Exciting Opportunities Await!

Participants in the Young Cooks Program have the chance to win amazing prizes, including:

  • Invitations to a “Masterchef” style live final
  • Work experience opportunities
  • Masterclasses and behind-the-scenes tours
  • Cash prizes

How to Enter:

Entering the Young Cooks Program is simple! All entries should include:

  • A list of ingredients
  • The method used to prepare the dish(es)
  • A breakdown of the cost of each dish
  • A photo of the dish(es) they have prepared

Entry Requirements:

Primary and Secondary

  • Prepare a main course using at least 6 items from the following list: Potatoes, Leeks, Mushrooms, Rice, Butter, Stock Cubes, Pasta, Flour, Carrots, Milk, Garlic, Tinned Tomatoes, Onions, Eggs, Meat, Beans, Pulses, Fish, Lentils.
  • Additional ingredients may be added, but the total cost for 4 portions should not exceed £16.00.
  • Entrants have 1.5 hours to prepare the dish and clear away.

16+ Category:

  • Prepare a 3-course meal for 2 people.
  • The total cost for 2 portions of the 3 dishes should not exceed £20.00.
  • Entrants have 2.5 hours to prepare the dishes and clear away.
