Fieldfisher expands Tax offering in Spain by welcoming Xavier Aixelà as a new partner based in the Barcelona office. Xavier will work closely with Juan Osuna, the Tax Partner in Madrid, to further develop the firm's offering in tax advisory services.

Xavier holds a law degree and a master's degree in taxation from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has more than 20 years' experience working for companies such as Cuatrecasas, Garrigues and, most recently, KPMG, where he spent more than 12 years leading the family business and family office tax practice.

He specialises in providing comprehensive tax advice to large estates, family businesses and family offices, both nationally and internationally. His expertise spans business reorganisation, succession planning, and generational transitions within family-owned businesses. He has also overseen the tax aspects of numerous mergers and acquisitions. His client base includes family offices in the pharmaceutical and construction sectors, as well as international athletes' family offices.

Since 2003, Xavier has been an expert in tax advice for artists and sports professionals, initially at Garrigues' Sports & Entertainment department and later as Head of Tax at KPMG's Sports department.

Associate Anna Thomas will also be joining alongside Xavier.

Jordi Ruiz de Villa, Managing Partner of Fieldfisher in Spain, commented: "Large estates and family businesses are a key focus for Fieldfisher Spain. Xavier's joining strengthens our ability to provide a 360º service to clients.

"We are making strong progress with our 2023-2025 strategy, which set to add 12 new partners. So far, we've welcomed two new partners in 2023 and six partners in 2024, including three in Madrid; Pedro Claros, Javier Cuairan and Victor Moran and three in Barcelona; Adriana Lafuente, Pablo Vinageras and now Xavier Aixelà. We are very pleased with this growth."

Xavier Aixelà added: "Both Anna and I are very happy to embark on this exciting new chapter at Fieldfisher. We look forward to contributing to the firm's continued growth with our expertise."
