Fieldfisher advises on strategic deal to transform energy data services
European law firm Fieldfisher has advised CEO and founder, Jeremy Thomas, on the sale of Astral Tech to IMServ, a trusted leader in metering and data services for UK energy suppliers and major business customers. The deal positions IMServ as a leading force in the energy sector by integrating Astral Tech's advanced technology and unified data solutions.
Astral Tech is a global tech company, providing cloud-base SaaS products to the energy and utilities sector. IMServ, supported by Bluewater private equity, a provider of data collection, metering, visualisation and energy efficiency services for UK energy suppliers and major businesses, is leveraging this acquisition to evolve into a technology-driven energy data powerhouse. By incorporating Astral Tech's advanced data-led software solutions, IMServ aims to provide an integrated data model that enhances the capabilities of energy suppliers and businesses alike.
Jeremy Thomas and Astral Tech were represented by a cross-practice team from Fieldfisher, which comprised partner Tom Rush, associate Felicity Hart, partner Rob Sheldon, senior associate Sara Stewart, partner Andrew Prowse, solicitor Shamima Khan and director Louise Paull. The teams' expertise in the technology sector facilitated a seamless transaction for all parties involved.
Tom Rush commented: "We're extremely pleased to have supported Jeremy and Astral Tech in this important deal. Our experience and knowledge in not just M&A but also in the technology sector means that we were able to advise on an acquisition which marks a huge step in the evolution of energy data services. With the energy transition becoming more crucial every day, we're proud to have supported a business that will support these global targets."
This unified data approach enables IMServ's clients to access insights from meters, assets, and customer interactions, leading to cost efficiency, deeper analytics, smarter decision-making, and greater value in driving the energy transition.
With Fieldfisher's strategic legal guidance during this acquisition, Astral Tech's expertise will support IMServ in creating a unified energy data model that eliminates fragmentation and complexity and ensures every customer gets the clarity they need.
This deal follows a number of recent projects for the M&A team, including advising leading Kazakhstan telecoms company on landmark transaction, supporting the Cumberland on strategic partnership with Tata Consultancy Services and advising InteleTravel on its second UK acquisition in a year.
